For young children, knowing how to get help in an emergency is as important as learning
their home phone number and address. For many, knowing when and how to dial 9-1-1
has helped save thousands of lives.
The Massachusetts State 911 Department is dedicated to working with schools, teachers
and parents to educate children, (pre-K through 4th grade), about how to use 9-1-1
to get help in an emergency.
Our school outreach program and tool kit, 9-1-1 Numbers to Know,
is specifically
designed to help teachers and parents teach children about three important safety
points: 1. When to call 9-1-1; 2. How to dial 9-1-1; 3. What information they need
to know.
The 9-1-1 Numbers to Know School Kit includes an entertaining, informational video,
safety information pamphlets, and a magnet as a reminder of when to call 9-1-1.
We have also developed an activity coloring book to help children identify emergency
situations and the information they will need to know when they call 9-1-1.
The Massachusetts State 911 Department and the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security is pleased to offer this important educational
program and school kit free of charge to schools throughout the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts.
